After a recent trip to the Desert i came back inspired to try to create something new. I photographed a bunch of old signs out there and decided to try to replicate one. This is "The Stardust"- a replica of a small hotel sign in Palm Springs. I'll be at the pool.
Materials: plywood, paint, found wood, transfer paper, sheet plastic, wood trim, glue, wood dowels. 24" x 24" x 1.5"
I turned 46 recently. I've never been this old before. It's not as bad as I thought it would be. I was lucky enough to spend my birthday out in one of my favorite places, the California desert. Boat drinks everyone!
Next weekend- Santa Monica- the Barker Hanger- Unique LA Summer Show. The best in local Design, Fashion, Food, and culture- all under one roof. July 13 + 14. Click here for more info. Hope to see you there!
I recently completed my second permanent artwork installation for The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf in Brea, California. Having never been there before - I spent a day in advance of production driving around looking for local landmarks to capture for the store. We ended up creating a tryptic of 3 - 30" x 30" Birch panels and built a separate 24" x 24" "Area Map" of local sights to see in Brea. The Area Map was pretty challenging- i'd never done something like that. The address is 2500 E. Imperial Highway, #182, Brea, CA 92812. I haven't actually been to see the final install yet. Stop by, grab a cup of Joe and check it out. A huge thanks to Ross! More info on Coffee Bean here.
Hey Folks- this weekend, we will be participating in our first Maker Faire show in San Mateo, California. This is a 2 day family friendly event. Maker Faire is primarily designed to be forward-looking, showcasing makers who are exploring new forms and new technologies. But it’s not just for the novel in technical fields; Maker Faire features innovation and experimentation across the spectrum of science, engineering, art, performance and craft. It's truly an honor to be participating at this show. If you live near the area- please try to stop by. We are in the Bazaar Bizarre tent in the West lot. Booth #4. More info about the event here. thanks
